Silek Tuo literally means “old Silat”  and the style is seen as a base of pencak silat in general. It is one of the oldest styles and the original techniques has been preserved, this in comparisment to other (modern) styles. We focus on the defence, instead of the attack. In other words: more on technique than on pure strength.

Our perguruan (school) is named Silek Tuo Pusako Minang, which stands for “old Silat as heritage of the Minangkabau people”. Our school is an original aliran (martial arts) and still enjoys a good relationship with our mother school in Bukittinggi, West-Sumatra.
